Information Technology Department
Ben has been in the information technology field for over 35 years, starting just after stints as an Air Force pilot, and as a pilot in Alaska supporting the building of the pipeline. Ben’s IT experience is far-reaching. He’s owned his own computer store, written accounting programs, converted a large company from IBM terminals to PCs, managed IT departments, and built data centers and networks. For the past decade he worked for an IT consulting firm and is currently an independent programmer and IT solutions consultant. Ben calls computers and technology his “second hobby” as well as his career. Ben joined the NMRA in the ‘70s and after several years discovered his local Division. One volunteer position led to the next, and he suddenly found himself in a myriad of positions, including both Division Superintendent and Region President. Ben’s received both his Division and Region’s “Member of the Year” awards as well as the NMRA President’s Award. Ben models the Missouri Pacific in 1960, is heavily into operations, and is currently building a layout in his garage.
